Level 1 Certificate in Automotive Maintenance
Level 1 Certificate in Automotive Maintenance course provides students with the basic technical skills and knowledge required for today’s motor vehicle repair industry. It is designed to build essential understanding for service technicians working with light vehicles (cars and vans) across garages, dealerships, and maintenance depots. The Mechanics Automotive Maintenance course involves three separate qualifications which offer a progression within the qualification.
Content
During the course, you will study vehicle construction and routine maintenance, as well as the operating principles of engines, tyres, brakes, steering, and suspension systems. You will also learn about the operating principles and maintenance of transmission and electrical or electronic systems, and gain an understanding of health and safety practices in the workplace.
Assessment
Students will be assessed internally throughout the course. Assessment will include practical tasks carried out in a motor vehicle workshop and written assignments, along with IMI Awards-set online multiple-choice testing.

Level 2 Certificate in Automotive Maintenance
The Level 2 Certificate in Automotive Maintenance provides learners with the knowledge, understanding, and practical skills required to progress within the automotive maintenance and repair industry. This qualification builds upon the skills developed at Level 1 and supports progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study.
