The BTEC Level 1 in Construction course provides learners with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required to begin a career in the construction industry. It introduces students to a range of construction trades, teamwork exercises, and workplace expectations while developing their understanding of roles, responsibilities, and health and safety within the sector.
Content
Throughout the course, learners will gain hands-on experience across a range of construction trades, including joinery, plastering, bricklaying, plumbing, and painting. You will develop practical skills through tasks such as building stools, fitting locks, hanging doors, plaster-boarding, plastering, constructing walls, wallpapering, and completing basic plumbing and painting projects.
In addition, you will take part in team-building activities designed to mirror real construction site environments and help you understand workplace roles and responsibilities.
Assessment
Students will be assessed internally through a range of practical activities, demonstrating the ability to complete construction tasks to a good standard. Assessment will also include the development of a portfolio of evidence that records your learning and progress throughout the course.
